Whether or not you have read any previous posts, in the food allergy world, you are thrown into the arena of shopping for substitutions. It's like, can't have eggs, good luck with making pancakes! Can't have soy, so long stir fries! No can do on dairy, bye bye cream sauces.
Well, that's why we exist as we want to make this as Easy as we can for anyone having to accommodate food allergies.
I'll be honest, I equate allergen free baking to chemistry projects and guess what, chemistry was not my thing. However with experience, we have climbed over some of our hills and found substitutions that work for us.
As with anything, please make sure the substitutions are safe for consumption and free of your specific allergens.
Several substitutions listed in previous posts would include applesauce, collagen peptides, arrowroot powder or starch, and coconut aminos. This is what we have used them for:
When using substitutions follow as closely as you can to recipes you find. This builds experience and will eventually help guide you to figure out substitutions a little further on.
We will be sure to update our recipes with places to buy these products should they not be available near you. We found many of these ingredients at our local Whole Foods Market or natural foods store. With practice and research you will soon find ways to buy your items on sale or cheaper ways to buy them that may suit more your budget needs.
